Voodoo Chile first official entrant for The Showdown

Voodoo Chile, Lloyd Clark and Andrew Hunn’s Farr 40, is the first entrant for The Showdown 2009, with part-owner Clark declaring the new regatta “a really good idea for keen competition” early in the summer season.

Voodoo Chile, the former Sydney yacht Kokomo and owned by Clark and Hunn since 2007, had an outstanding summer of racing against fellow Farr 40s on the River Derwent last summer.

With Clark on the helm and Hunn calling tactics, Voodoo Chile won the Farr 40 Pennants at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, Derwent Sailing Squadron and Bellerive Yacht Club, and also won the King of the Derwent.

Joining his father for The Showdown will be Joshua Clark, who recently crewed aboard ICAP Leopard of London when the British 100ft maxi yacht took line honours in the Rolex Fastnet Race. “He is on the crew list again for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race,” Lloyd Clark said.

“We are looking forward to another great season of Farr 40 racing this summer, in Pennant races and in The Showdown and other events.”
